Support Your Local Firefighters - Vote YES on Prop 1! Central Pierce Fire & Rescue (CPFR), Graham Fire & Rescue (GFR), and Orting Valley Fire & Rescue (OVFR) are asking voters to approve a merger creating a new, unified regional fire service organization. On April 22nd, your vote on Proposition 1 will decide the future of emergency services in our region. Here's why voting YES is the best choice for you, your family, and your firefighters:
When you call 911, the same dedicated firefighters will show up at your door. The merger won't result in any job losses or fire station closures.
Prop 1 allows fire districts to deploy the closest available emergency vehicles eliminating borders, cutting seconds off response times and ensuring help arrives when you need it the most.
By streamlining operations and reducing redundancies, firefighters will have the resources, training, and tools they need to focus on what matters most: saving lives and protecting property in Pierce County.
This initiative does not require new funding or tax increases. It's about doing more with what we already have - maximizing efficiency and optimizing resources without asking you for more.
Our growing communities deserve fire services that can keep up. The unified organization will have the flexibility and resources to reactivate unused stations, build new ones, and adjust staffing to meet real-time needs.
CPFR, GFR, and OVFR already collaborate in many areas, including shared leadership, training programs, IT services, and community education. Prop 1 is the natural next step to make these efforts permanent and even more effective.
